Equipment
This section will talk about eqiupment. We plan a variety of
different kinds of articles and formats, including:
- Comprehensive comparisons of similar products (canoes,
lifejackets, tents, water filters, flashlights, packs)
from a variety of manufacturers, with lots of tables and
charts
- Discussion of the factors involved in choosing a type of
product (What should your canoe be made of? Do you need a
2 person or 4 person tent? Are internal frame packs
better than frameless packs for canoeing? Comparison of
water purification techniques)
- Whether or not you need a piece of equipment at all:
(flashlights vs candle lanterns vs going to bed when it's
dark, folding saws vs breaking firewood with your foot)
- How much or how many to take
- Kits and collections: first aid, repair, bored-children,
and so on
If you think you have something to say, or wouldn't mind doing
the research needed, please write or email
us with a proposal that includes:
- The topic you'd like to cover
- The format you'd like to take (don't just say "water
purification": do you mean whether you should or
not, what approaches there are, the difference between
the MFC and Katadyn filters, or the cheapest mail order
source of a specific filter?)
- How many pictures you have, are they photos or sketches,
can you provide them in electronic form or do we have to
scan them, and so on.
- Whether you can mark up your article with HTML or not
- A bit about yourself and why you are the one to write
this article
- An idea of how long you need to do it
